ASEAN i-Teams
A two year UK FCDO-funded pilot, transferring the i-Teams methodology to two universities in two selected countries; Vietnam and Indonesia.
Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), ASEAN i-Teams aims to provide early market feedback about the commercial viability of new technologies emerging from university research, and to train the next generation of Indonesian and Vietnamese scientists and engineers in hands-on commercialisation skills.
The project worked with government agencies to identify the first two partner universities for the pilot project.
The Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam’s largest and oldest technical university, ran their first i-Teams programme in Q3 2023, and their second programme in September-October 2024.
The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) is one of Indonesia’s first technological universities. Their first i-Teams programme ran in Q1 2024, and their second in September-October 2024.
Additionally, UK-based workshops aimed to link UK technology companies with resources and expertise in working with ASEAN countries, and help promote trade to the region.
The Centre for Global Equality is the lead implementing partner for the ASEAN i-Teams project.
ASEAN i-Teams is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
