Year/Course: 2011-2012, Lent 2012

Contact: Dan Reynolds, Lungfish Dive Systems & IfM
Mentor: Dr. John Hunter

Lungfish Dive Systems was founded by Dan Reynolds, a biologist with a keen interest in diving. Working with a small team of experts, he developed a new closed-circuit breathing apparatus combining a number of innovative technologies to allow divers to go beyond the limits of normal open-circuit SCUBA without facing the risk, complexity and expense normally associated with rebreathers.

There are a number of markets where such equipment might be of use, including recreational purposes, military applications (eg mine removal), commercial uses (eg in the oil industry), and scientific research. The question for the i-Team is to investigate the needs and potentials of the different markets, and match these to the features and specifications of the Lungfish system.
